PERSONALITY
-She is very stubborn. She sticks to first impressions of people, she will refuse to change plans, and she will argue change until she's blue in the face. -Because she doesn't really give a shit about tact or politeness, she can often be abrasive or at least kind of irritating. -Her first instinct tends to be violence - as a problem solving skill, as a response to someone pissing her off, etc. -When it gets down to it, though, in a lot of cases she can be a very generous person, with her time, skills, or possessions. -She does care about things and people pretty strongly, though she rarely would admit as much without serious extenuating circumstances
-She is loyal as shit if you can get through the stubborn abrasiveness and get her to care about you. -Will generally still be kind of an abrasive shit even when doing good things, because that's who she is. -In the end she's a good person, but a LITTLE FUCKING SHIT who's also kind of screwed up bc growing up in a militant catholic demon-hunting mob family cult. ✵ |

ABILITIES&SKILLS
Angel. Sort of, it's kind of complicated. Long story short, she's technically one of two alternative subspecies of human, heavily augmented by magic that is passed down genetically. While they were originally called something else, thanks to the European bias in deciding how important names are, the church's decision back in the middle ages to call them "angels" and "demons" stuck. Currently the Catholic church does not consider them actual heavenly angels, but that their abilities and powers are a gift from Gd.
Physically, she has slightly hollowed bones, similar to a bird's but not to the same extent. Her blood is lighter than a human's, more pink than red, with an opalescent sheen under light. Her body temperature is lower than a human's, clocking in at around 91-92 when she's healthy. She has rather massive wings (ie - probably about a 20 ft wingspan) that fold into her back (thanks to magic that warps reality and allows them to do that) when she chooses. She has rather heavy scars on her back that mark where her wings emerge. Also, fwiw, most modern angels do not have wingspans that exceed 12 or so feet. However, Tay is only a couple of generations removed from Romana Angelos, a particularly old and powerful angel, and her angelic genes are subsequently VERY OLD. Barnams tend to have wider-than-12-feet wingspans anyway, and Tay has a large wingspan even for a Barnam. (It goes along with the fact that she's just pushed over 6' tall and is still growing.) -stronger and faster than your average human -...wings. -the ability to sense/see magic with her wings out. It would be kind of wonky and probably wouldn't always work, as she's only used to/built for recognizing the magic from HER universe. -the ability to theoretically bond to a single person, knowing where they are and what they're feeling at all times (emotionally and, to a lesser extent, physically), with the need to protect them at all costs. if she survives the death of her ward, she can bond with someone else, but most guardians don't survive that. -she is very skilled in being a lil shit -hand-to-hand combat training/experience, more brawling/boxing than martial arts, though she does know some tai chi (she almost never uses it) -melee weapon training/experience - better with an axe or a mace than a sword -firearms training/experience, leaning towards handguns over rifles and the like. ✵ HISTORY
At some point a long long time ago, angels and demons were created. And angels were given "callings", which to be honest are more like serious mental illnesses with compulsions, because fighting against these callings is all but impossible, and there's no way to control what calling you get when your wings come in. (that happens around puberty, by the way.)
At some point a long time ago but more recently than that, an old and powerful archangel in the height of the Roman Empire named Romana had a child with another powerful archangel, and their child started a family of archangels (angels with the "calling" to hunt and kill monsters and most especially demons) that eventually settled and flourished in Ireland, especially once the Catholic church established itself strongly. Eventually, after time wore on, they emigrated to the United States, settled in Boston, and proceeded to basically own the northeastern US (and bits of southeastern Canada). Like the Irish mob, only magic and in some ways more terrifying. They were a very militant family, focused entirely on their goal of eradicating demons from the face of the earth. The heir presumptive (granda's favorite (and eldest surviving) son) was kind of a player, and liked to sleep with women of all sorts, despite the family policy on only breeding with acceptable angels to preserve the bloodline. While she likely wasn't the first half-human illegitimate child the Barnams had taken in, Taylor was the only one currently alive when she was born (to their knowledge), and she took a lot of shit for it. Unlike the offspring of two angels, there was no guarantee she would be an angel like her father. She was, however, treated as though she might one day amount to something, and was given extensive combat and survival training, as well as lessons on demons, monsters, and magic. She was home-schooled by an aunt who married into the family until she she could read, write, and do basic arithmetic. After that, the only lessons she had were to prepare her for a life of demon and monster hunting, and experience in those areas. Tay got her wings in at 16, which was on the later side, but still within the average age range. Unfortunately, unlike her father and extended family, she did not become an archangel but an Ishim, a guardian angel whose calling was to protect one person that they would bond to upon meeting, who would be deeply (one-sidedly) empathically connected to, and whose death would probably kill the angel as well. In the hierarchy of angels, guardians were at the bottom, and as they can't even trigger the bond intentionally, they're considered generally pretty useless by angels such as the Barnam family. She was deemed unfit to be considered heir after her father, and more or less written off by a majority of the family. Around the same time, Tay first met her older half-sister, Nate Cavanaugh. Unlike Tay, who had been removed from her human mother's custody at birth - like the vast majority of known Barnam bastards - Nate's mother had been a lawyer, and attempting to remove the child from her mother's custody would've been a greater hassle than it was worth. Nate manifested as an archangel, and was approached by some of her younger cousins to begin to guide her into the Cult of Barnam once she was at university. Tay, especially with the influence of Nate, the first person she'd ever grown close to who hadn't grown up in the Barnam family, began to see that her family's way of doing things was… fucked up, to say the least. Before too horribly long, shit went down, they decided to Fuck Right Out and ditch the family as best they could without burning bridges: ie they went on a roadtrip through rural central-and-western America to "hunt demons", which both gave them an excuse to get away from Barnam territory and also to have a low kill count, as demons (and monsters, which were the only things they killed, unless the demon was actively evil) are much rarer in rural areas. ✵ |

-She is loyal as shit if you can get through the stubborn abrasiveness and get her to care about you.

-Will generally still be kind of an abrasive shit even when doing good things, because that's who she is.

-Which technically means she could theoretically bond to someone on the fleet? It's unlikely and I can make that a no-go if you want, but we could easily say "the magic that makes her a guardian is kind of fritzy thanks to the universe change" and have it kick in after she has some CR, and basically this is just a "I can nix this or not, up to you?"
-she is very skilled in being a lil shit
-hand-to-hand combat training/experience, more brawling/boxing than martial arts, though she does know some tai chi (she almost never uses it)
-melee weapon training/experience - better with an axe or a mace than a sword

[ the camera focuses on the form of a tall (very tall), teenage girl who has not yet woken up. She's sprawled on her stomach, one arm dangling down as though she rolled over and didn't quite manage to stay on the cot.
It pans down her back, where the tops of two rather nasty-looking scars are peeking out above her tank top. It's a ~very dramatic reveal~ that the viewers back home will probably be deeply intrigued by.
After a moment, she shifts and groans. She pushes herself up, finally awake, and freezes halfway up.
This is not the motel room she was expecting to be in.
Her free hand moves immediately to the small of her back, finding nothing, and then her ankle, finding nothing but army surplus cargo pants and combat boots. ]
Where the fuck are my guns?
